by Jeanette Hardage, 2007
Jeanette Hardage, perhaps like most people, seems to have felt God’s presence most deeply in the quiet places of life. In Faith and Other Matters, she juxtaposes the poem below with the Psalm 37:7 admonishment to “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.” Maybe her poem will prompt you to think about where you go to meet God.
Finding the Right Place
Seeker in cathedral’s
morning light marvels,
struck by splendor of light splinters
streaming through stained glass
to the glory of God.
A holy place.Seeker in willow’s
noontime shade heeds
brook’s babble,
creation’s and creatures’ charm.
A holy place.Seeker in night’s
dark hours waits,
prays, listens for God to speak.
A holy place.
